How to Make a Paper Plate Dinosaur Mask
1. Cut the Paper Plate
Start by cutting a paper plate in half. Each half will become a dinosaur mask.
2. Cut Eye Holes
Hold the plate up to your child’s face to help position the eyes, then carefully cut out two eye holes.
3. Decorate Your Dinosaur
Now comes the fun part!
Children can decorate their dinosaur masks however they like. We used felt tips to colour our masks and cut a wave shape around the edge of the plate to create a spiky dinosaur look.
You can also glue on cardboard horns, spikes, or teeth to turn the mask into different types of dinosaurs.
4. Add the Mask Handle or Strap
There are two easy ways to finish your mask:
Elastic Strap Method
- Use a hole punch to make a hole on each side of the mask.
- Tie elastic string through the holes so the mask can be worn.
Lollipop Stick Method
- Tape or glue a lollipop stick to the back of the mask so children can hold it up in front of their face.
Make It a Dinosaur Playtime
Once the masks are finished, the real fun begins!
Encourage kids to:
- Stomp around like dinosaurs
- Roar like a T-Rex
- Pretend they’re exploring a prehistoric jungle
You could even combine the masks with other dinosaur activities like colouring pages, puzzles, or a dinosaur scavenger hunt.
